Week 18 Excitement

Week 18 brought quite a bit of excitement.  Through the course of the pregnancy various aches and pains have developed that became much more pronounced on the morning on April 21st.  On this morning Stacy awoke with severe right sided abdominal pain, nausea and a low grade fever.  She attempted to go to work but after calling the on-call OB/GYN she was advised to be evaluated in the ER.  She was seen promptly by a surgeon and considering her clinical presentation and physical exam was rushed to the operating room to have her appendix removed.  Both mother and child tolerated the procedure well and were discharged the following day.  On April the 22nd both mom and baby were examined in followup by OB/GYN and other than being minus one appendix they were both doing well and ultrasound pictures showed a healthy, hyper BOY!
14 weeks and 6 days brought a faint flutter in Stacy's belly that Gilbert thought was "just gas" but proved to be the first signs of the baby's movements that would only grow more pronounced as the weeks progressed.

Teddy Bear

A month later a follow up visit and ultrasound showed our little "teddy bear" to be growing normally without any problems.  Additionally this visit showed the baby moving and kicking - playing jumping jacks at only nine weeks of age.

The First Ultrasound

On January 12th, Stacy - in an attempt to fix dinner - climbed on the counter in the kitchen, fell off and broke not only the stove but her toes and as a consequence found out we were expecting! Confirmatory testing was done and approximately two weeks later we had the first, of what will certainly be many, picture of our first child!
